Reservation Function Implementation Guide

This document provides implementation instructions for the Reservation Function on the THE BRAND ORIGINAL website.
The purpose of this functionality is to allow customers to temporarily reserve an item for purchase while protecting the interests of both the customer and THE BRAND ORIGINAL.
1. RESERVE ITEM BUTTON
• For eligible products, display a button:
• Reserve Item
• The button should appear near the Add to Cart button.
• Example:
• Add to Cart
• Reserve Item
2. RESERVATION DEPOSIT
• The reservation deposit shall equal:
• 10% of the listed purchase price.
• The deposit amount must be calculated automatically by the website.
Examples:
• $500 item → $50 deposit
• $2,000 item → $200 deposit
• $8,000 item → $800 deposit
3. RESERVATION PERIOD
The reservation period shall be:
72 hours (3 calendar days)
The reservation period begins immediately after successful payment of the reservation deposit.
4. RESERVATION TERMS DISPLAY
When a customer selects the Reserve Item option, the website must display the following information:
• Reserve This Item
• Reserve this item for 72 hours by paying a non-refundable reservation deposit equal to 10% of the purchase price.
• If the purchase is completed during the reservation period, the deposit will be credited toward the purchase price.
• If the purchase is not completed within 72 hours, the reservation will expire automatically and the reservation deposit will not be refunded.
5. REQUIRED RESERVATION CHECKBOX
Before payment of the reservation deposit, the customer must actively accept the following statement:
I understand that I am paying a non-refundable reservation deposit equal to 10% of the item's purchase price. The item will be reserved for 72 hours. If I do not complete the purchase within that period, the reservation will automatically expire and my reservation deposit will not be refunded.
Requirements:
• checkbox is mandatory;
• payment cannot proceed without acceptance;
• Reservation Policy link must be clickable.
6. RESERVATION PAYMENT
After acceptance of the reservation terms and successful payment of the reservation deposit:
• reservation becomes active;
• item status changes to Reserved;
• reservation timer begins automatically.
7. RESERVED STATUS
While the reservation is active:
• item is removed from active sale;
• item cannot be purchased by another customer;
• item remains exclusively reserved for the reserving customer.
8. AUTOMATIC EXPIRATION
At exactly 72 hours after reservation payment:
If the purchase has not been completed:
• reservation expires automatically;
• item returns to active inventory;
• item becomes available for purchase by other customers;
• reservation deposit remains non-refundable.
No manual action by staff should be required.
9. FOOTER PLACEMENT
Add the following link to the Customer Information section of the website footer:
Reservation Policy
The link should direct customers to the full Reservation Policy page.
10. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
The reservation process should remain simple and transparent.
The customer should clearly understand:
• amount of deposit;
• reservation duration;
• non-refundable nature of the deposit;
• expiration process.
The website should present this information in a clear and professional manner consistent with the luxury image of THE BRAND ORIGINAL.
